Obituary of Karen Marie Alexander
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Marie Alexander (nee Tummonds) on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the age of 59 after a long, courageous, and hard-fought battle against cancer. She passed away peacefully at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa in the presence of her family. Karen gained such a deep appreciation for life, family and friends, as well as helping others once she started her battle against breast cancer. Karen became an ambassador for the After Breast Cancer charity and shared her experience and strength with others on the same journey. Her motto was “Live your life one day at a time, one step at a time. Hold out your hand to those who can take and guide you through the rough times and the good times.” In recent years she enjoyed giving her tender care working with children at Columbus Community Playgroup and Tykes of Columbus Child Care Centre. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who leaves behind her devoted husband Douglas, and loving family – sons Brandon (Alyssa), and Brent (Shawna) and grandchildren Jayde, Tinsley, and Aubrielle. Beloved daughter of Muriel and the late Gary Tummonds. Dear sister of Larry (Teresa), and daughter-in-law of Jackie and the late Alex Alexander.
The Family of Karen Alexander will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Saturday, February 4th from 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
