Obituary of David Drew Lucas

We are sad to announce the passing of David Drew Lucas of Bracebridge, Ontario. He passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 22, 2024 at the age of 88. Dave was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years Pauline Mary (nee Lee) and his sister Ruth Ann Stuart (nee Lucas). He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family; daughter Diana, son Stephen, son-in-law Scott, grandchildren Alyssa and Amanda (Nick) and great granddaughter Miabella.

Dave was born in Toronto and lived there for many years, in addition to living in Brighton for a short while as a child, and then eventually settling in Markham with his wife Pauline and their children. They lived in Markham for 28 years, creating many family memories. They also had an inherited family cottage on Mazengah Island in Muskoka where they spent their summers surrounded by extended family. In retirement, Dave and Pauline moved to Huntsville and continued to enjoy the Muskoka life all year round. Upon moving to Huntsville, Dave began volunteering for the Muskoka Heritage Place Train, where he volunteered for the rest of his life and loved it dearly. Dave was an entrepreneur and owned a variety of businesses with Pauline. Together they created a wonderful life. A life full of friends who they liked to have game nights with; hobbies including model trains, wine making, pool, and boating; faith and a devotion to their churches; and family memories in the Muskokas including taking their grandchildren on many wonderful outings. In his quiet later years, Dave loved to watch seagulls from his balcony in Bracebridge and often talked about how majestic and graceful he thought they were. His family will now often think of him when they see one flying by.

The family of David Lucas will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Saturday, October 26th from 2 – 4 p.m. A private family service and interment was held at All Saints Anglican Cemetery in Huntsville, Ontario.
