Obituary of Catherine Patricia Fenton

The family of Catherine Patricia Fenton (nee Harvey) of Port Perry is saddened to announce her passing on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Oak Ridges Hospice. Beloved wife of the late James Norman Fenton. Cherished mother of Michael (deceased) and his wife Monica, David and his wife Dimi (deceased), Jo Ellen, and Jennifer (Jason). Proud grandmother of Krystal (Pat), Jason, Eleni, Madeleine, and Harrison and great grandmother of Bria, Alexa, Madison, and Jason Michael. Dear sister-in-law of William and his wife Frances (deceased), John (deceased) and his wife Estelle, and McKinley and his wife Diane.

Catherine was born August 9, 1937 in Toronto. She was an only child to parents Peter and Audrey Harvey. Catherine’s early years were shaped by her father’s overseas military service during the Second World War. She attended St. Joseph’s College School and became an independent young woman. Catherine’s greatest treasure was her family.  Catherine was blessed with a marriage of 63 years to her late husband James. She was a devoted homemaker to her children. The kitchen was always the heart of the home with mom’s cooking and baking! At the age of 50, Catherine was determined to rejoin the workforce and became a ward secretary on Tower 7 at Scarborough General Hospital. Catherine and James settled into retirement life in the beautiful town of Port Perry. They engaged in social activities in The Canterbury Common Community and developed long lasting friendships. They enjoyed travels to Hawaii, Italy, France and Ireland. The trip to Ireland was especially meaningful given Catherine’s Irish heritage. Catherine will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her faith in God, her witty sense of humour, and her love of dogs. May her Irish eyes keep smiling down upon us all!

The family of Catherine will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Monday, January 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral mass for family and close friends will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Ministries or The Scott Mission would be appreciated).
