I offer my deepest condolences on the passing of Uncle John. He was a kind, good and loving man who was strong, happy and found humor in many things that could brighten your day. It saddens me that I cannot be in person with you on Friday, I am with you in spirit, thoughts and prayers. All my love to you Auntie Eileen, Sherri and Jannine.

John was my best friend when we moved to the farm on the 4th concession in 1969. John, brother Bill and sister Helen lived about a km down the road. It was a transition for me from being an urban Scarborough kid to rural life. John and I spent a lot of time together playing road hockey and snowmobiling in the winter and hunting squirrels and rabbits with our .22’s in the summertime. We also had an old Corvair convertible we converted into a dune buggy and roared around the fields. We both attended Prince Albert public school with Mr Willougby, then made the big leap to grade 8 at Port Perry High. We lost touch over the years but I would periodically hear from my Mom and Dad about how John was doing as they frequently would run into him In town. I do remember a couple of happy encounters with him at events at the waterfront or at the rink. We always picked up right where we had left off- the best way to describe John was that he was an old soul, and what you saw is what you got. The last time I saw him was 10 years ago when my Mom died and John made the trek out on an awful December day to pay his respects.
RIP buddy, you were one of the good ones. The world needs more John Gerbers.

Eileen and family, on behalf of Ethel and Bill Stimson, we want to send you our sincere condolences on your loss of your husband, John Gerber.
We only got to know him, at the Port Perry Legion Branch 419, over the past couple of years and John was always very friendly, kind and whitty and we enjoyed the sharing of many stories and laughs about everything.
He was a great human being to get to know and will be sadly missed.
RIP John and keep you demeanor in your next life.

Dear Eileen & all family members: Sending our deepest sympathy on the passing of John. What a shock, being Caleb Street neighbours for many years & seeing John working on the front lawn or waving passing by in his truck and walking with you & your dogs. Treasure the memories. RIP John

My condolences to Eileen and the rest of the family. John was a character and a friend over the years, be it clashing on the ice in a game of Broomball, or at the Legion over a beer. RIP my friend.
