Obituary of Charles Lavell Matthews

Peacefully passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa, at age 79. Charles was the beloved husband of Carol. Loving father to Marc (Crystal) and Peter. Cherished grandfather of Spencer and Victoria. Wonderful brother-in-law to Gail (Martin), Joanne (Vaughn) and Valia (Jamie). He will be missed by his nieces and nephews in England. Charles was predeceased by his sister Jean Ashcroft, his parents Charles and Edith, and his nephew Mark. He will be missed by all who knew him. Charles was born in Liverpool, England. He spent the majority of his career working at General Motors in Oshawa doing machine repairs, primarily in the North Plant. Charles was a private man who enjoyed spending time with close family and friends. As a young man, Charles was an avid fisherman. He had a love for reading, his dogs, playing chess, doing crossword puzzles and ancestry.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to the WAGG FUNERAL HOME 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171). A private family service will be held at the Collingwood Cemetery.
