Far too soon Bud! It didn't seem that long ago We were challenging the wooden stairs between Wakefield and Grandview in Oshawa when We were kids! Later in years it was Great to reconnect at GM. I am saddened by this news, but I am forever grateful John was a childhood Friend of Mine, and now, sadly, a cherished memory. My sincerest sympathies to Johns' Family and Friends. I had the pleasure of knowing John for thirty years at GM,first as a tool & die maker and then as an IMM.
I knew two things when I worked with John, first of all the job would be done properly, second of all we would have fun doing it.He really was one of the good guys,it was a privilege knowing him.
RIP my friend.

A brother is gone but never forgotten. John was the kindest person.
He was a fierce protector as a child and continued as an adult.
I am blessed that we shared vacations, weekend adventures, family holidays and a simple meal together.
I will always carry these moments and love. I’ll always be your sista ❤️

Dearest Val,Yvonne,Jay,Joelle,Grace, Ben,Chris,Steve,and families,
We are so very sorry to hear of John's passing. As neighbour's we remember him as a kind and friendly guy.A couple memories that come to mind are, while at the bus stop John would watch out for we young ones, keeping us under control and safe,if any fights or arguments broke out he would intervene, remind us of our manners and send us home, of course always in a kind way. Another funny memory was when John and his friend Pat volunteered to be Karla's first clients to receive a "free" haircut while she was training to be a hairstylist.According to Karla, their haircuts turned out quite wild.John said he would wait to volunteer again until Karla had a little more experience, ha ha; bless his heart for even mentioning volunteering again, but that was the kindness of John.
Much love and many prayers to all of you. May God give you peace and comfort at this time.
Your old neighbour's,the Gaylord Family

Losing someone creates a pain that is not easily healed, but we fill the void with memories and moments we hold close. Over the last few weeks, Ben and I have spent much time talking about and remembering our memories of his dad together.
John and Ben had many adventures together from big to small. Big adventures of their motorcycle trip through many eastern provinces and states, and their big trip to Mexico. And smaller adventures of listening to records or the latest Big Shiny Tunes CD and fixing things together or working on a car.
As we grew up into high school, I got to join Ben on many weekends out on The Point with John. Winters we spent out sledding and hotubbing, or inside playing games with the warm wood stove. Summers were spent on the water, meeting neighbours, tractor pulls, and day trips.
As we got older and spent less time at home we still got to share memories with Ben's dad. Graduating college, getting married, and buying our first house are just some of our major moments we got to share fondly with John and our closest family and friends.
Ben and I will always remember his dad as someone who encouraged his love of the outdoors, music, speed, adventure, and independence. We will miss you, John.

We are going to miss you buddy...
I can't sum up what a great friend you were John...We had many good times and I always thought of you as my cool older brother. We had many laughs, beers and fought our last fire together.
Whether it was the trip that never ended to Killbear Park or a mild hog atv weekend, we always had lots of fun and lots of laughs! You will also be known as "Buns of Steel John forever"! Thanks Grace for that nickname!
We have so many great memories that we will cherish always.

John was one of a kind, an amazing man & one that we were lucky to call our friend.
We went on many motorcycle trips like the Smokey Mountains, Lake Superior, cottaging & many more.
The Love that my long time friend Grace & John shared was so very rare.
Life is way too short & so unfair.
John will be deeply missed by us & so many more.
My deepest condolences to Grace, his family & friends.
IN OUR HEARTS
We thought of you today.
But that is nothing new.
We thought of you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have are memories.
And your picture in our frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart.

We met John and Grace through mutual motorcycle friends of ours, and as a result I had the pleasure of travelling with Grace and John to Maggie Valley in 2017 and to Las Vegas in 2019 (with my husband Robert Walsh). John was an exceptionally kind hearted person, who lived his life and gave his love one hundred percent. He was patient, and giving; had a quiet and calming presence that reverberated when he spoke and when he listened. John, was one of the very few amongst us that rarely ever had a negative comment; his optimism always shown. It is tragically unfair that he was taken away so soon from Grace, his family and his friends. May his memory live on and be a blessing to all those that mourn.

Rest In Peace, John Priebe. You were the kindest and gentlest brother a guy could ever hope to have. I’m going to miss you.
I am so thankful that we were able to say our goodbyes before you left us. I am so sorry that you didn’t win your battle with cancer. I hope you are at peace now.
Grace, Yvonne, Val, Joelle, and the rest of the family, you are all at the front of my thoughts. Sending you hugs always.
Here are just a few of the great memories over the years.
Although John was not at home in a canoe, he was always keen to join a canoe trip with me and our nephews (and his son, Ben). Such great fun. Family gatherings and trips were always much brighter for having John there. You will not be forgotten at future events. Your spirit will always guide us in being better for and with each other. Thanks for your lessons on how to be a great human. We both shared a love of motorcycles and shared a few trips on both of his bikes and even one moto trip in Thailand. There is nothing like the open road with two wheels beneath you to make you feel free. I hope John is motoring around wherever he is now!

I am so sorry that you have to go through this devastating loss. I know the journey you are being thrust into, will not be easy. Take your time. Lean on friends, if you can. The women in your life are your people. I KNOW THEY WILL HOLD YOU UP, AND CARE FOR YOU, AS LONG AS IT TAKES. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. THEY ARE THE MOST AMAZING WOMEN I HAVE EVER KNOWN. THEY WILL CARRY YOU THROUGH THIS PAINFUL TIME. It isn't fair, that you have to feel these feelings, while the world around you, keeps orbiting the sun, clocks keep ticking, people are moving along, like everything is fine, while you are in shock. It's the most unfair SHIT SHOW. My heart feels so heavy, and so sad for you, because, I so wish I could take your pain away, and give you back, your very best friend. From the many pictures you have shared over the time you've been with him, a wonderful, exciting, adventurous, romantic story was revealed. You, Grace, gave him an amazing life. And, and he gave you the same. How rare it is, these days, to see couples so COMPLETELY in sync with each other. The connection, the chemistry you have with each other will never stop. With you, he LIVED. With him you LIVED. Take your time. He is in every cell of your body, his love and friendship, is not gone. But, it's now different, unfamiliar and no longer tactile. You gave each other, an enviable partnership, and made each moment matter. What an amazing life he lived with you by his side! He IS SO BLESSED, to now be resting contently and safely, in your welcoming heart, eternally.
I love you dearly, my dear Grace. My sympathy runs deep,
Stasia

I wish I was there, by your side.

John was one of of the good ones. He is gone, but never forgotten.
As a child, he was one of my fierce protectors. As an adult, he continued to always be there and loved me.
We got to share so many family memories together of family trips, adventures and gatherings. Too many to recount but will always be with me.
You could always count on him. He touched the lives of so many. He would see someone he knew everywhere he went. Everyone has a story to share. He made an impression on everyone and will be remembered by many.
You are at peace now and onto your next journey with a smile on your face, a twinkle in your eye and surrounded by love.
The wind chimes are up and are waiting for you.
I’ll always be your sista!

Val and Yvonne
Thank you for letting me be part of your family.
I've been trying to find the words to to try and ease the pain of your loss but I realize there is none. I can only let you know that I too feel a deep loss and share your pain and grief at having lost the love of my life. I feel a part of me is missing.
There is comfort however in knowing he is no longer suffering and in the many happy memories we have of John. With each person whose life he has touched I feel his presence.
Although he was taken from us much too soon, he lived his life well, and always on his terms, surrounded by many friends who he considered extended family.
Thank you for raising such a wonderful man.
Love always
Grace

I had hoped that we would have more time, together we would share, but losing you this way just deepens my despair.
It took so long to find you, but I knew that I was done. Because my search was over, I knew you were my "ONE".
We both felt that we had met before, in another life maybe. So in the next I will look for you, and you can look for me.
So when you go on your next journey, try not to go so fast. Touch the lives of all the people that you meet, for this life ain't your first and for certain not your last.
Until we meet again...I'll love you forever-again.

John was a dedicated member of his community. He severed with honor, fortitude and was respected and loved by many including his fire family at Scugog fire & Emergency Services. I grew up in Caesarea and knew of John and his siblings. I never really got know him until life Les him back to Caesarea and he joined the Fire Department. Wasn't long before John became involved wherever he was needed. In 2006 he joined the Extrication team and became not only a rescue tech but mentor to new members teaching them what he learned. We competed in eastern Ontario in the year mentioned above. One night the team in the picture decided to hit the local entertainment scene. We ended up in a country karaoke bar. The night was just getting started so the action was pretty light. John spoke to the dj and next thing we know he's become Johnny Cash. As he belted out Burning Ring of Fire without even looking at the monitor we all stood there in amazement that he knew the words. He couldn't even come close to holding a note but man he held his own groving and twisting into the stage like Chubby Checker. He finished up the song stepped off the stage and said your turn boys! Who knew, mild mannered John could send a note and send a message to his team. I got this boys! Your turn... We had so much fun that summer. Know that John's picture below (2004) has hung in the halls at both stations since it was taken. He will always be a Brother to us and always charished. Rest in peace John, we'll take it from here.

I worked with John for several years in the north plant and from the first time I met him I knew he was a going to be a friend. He was a decent, caring, thoughtful man. I am devastated that we had drifted our separate ways after the plant closure and I was unaware of his illness. He really was one of the good ones and will be missed by all.
