Obituary of Herbert Allan Le Gard
(Retired Staff Sergeant Durham Regional Police Services)
As people celebrate the New Year, we celebrate a huge man, a man larger than life itself, a man we loved dearly. Peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 93. Herb Le Gard, beloved husband of 70 years, of Ina (nee Peattie) of Little Britain. Loving father of Sherry and her husband Tom Whiteway, and Wendy and her husband Carl Leszkowicz. Loved grandfather of Nicole Whiteway, Amanda and her husband Willem Terlouw, Carla and her husband Noah Dorland, Lisa Leszkowicz-Reid and her husband Matt Reid, Tom Whiteway and his wife Melissa, and 11 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents and three sisters. Herb will be remembered and missed by his nieces and nephews. Whether you know him as Dad, Gramps, Grandpa, Pobi, Uncle Herbie, Sarge, Staff or Friend, nobody knew or loved him more than his wife. Herb committed his life to his family, always providing a safe place to land. He committed his life to serving his country and community while dedicating his working years within the Royal Canadian Navy, Metropolitan Toronto Police Force, the Uxbridge Police Department, and the Durham Regional Police Service. He was a man of incredible strength, values and determination. Herb fought his last fight and is forever at peace, REST IN PEACE, SIR.
A private family service will be held at the Prince Albert Pine Grove Cemetery.
