Obituary of Murray William Stone
On Sunday morning, February 13, 2022, following a courageous battle with cancer, peacefully, overlooking his farm north of Greenbank with his family by his side, at age 71. Murray Stone, beloved husband and best friend of Shona (nee Ferguson) for 45 years. Loved son of Betty and William (d.2011) Stone of Port Perry. Loving father of Holly (Ken) Hilton, Meghan (Glen) Williams and Alec Stone and his fiancée Laryssa Kimble. Adored Grampy to Alyson, Ivy, Grace, Layton, and Eden. Dear brother of Linda (d.2011) (Brian) Newstead, John (Dawn) Stone, Janice (Rick) Kerr, Jill Bradley, Bob (Diane) Stone, Kate Stone (Jim) Ashbridge, Grant Stone, and Peter (Heidi) Stone. Murray will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends and extended family members.
Murray will be remembered for his great love of animals and being a well-respected and dedicated farmer. He always felt very fortunate to wake up every morning, doing what he loved. Murray will also be remembered for his love of music, outstanding sense of humor and loyal friendship. Our hearts break for his family, friends, neighbours and farming community, as he was truly one of a kind.
The family of Murray Stone will receive friends at the Greenbank United Church, 19991 Highway 12 in Greenbank on Tuesday, March 1st from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. A Private Service to Celebrate his life will be held in the Church at 1 p.m. with Reverend Stephanie Richmond officiating. You can join the live stream through the Greenbank United Church website at that time. COVID-19 protocol will be followed. Interment Bethel Cemetery, Greenbank at a later date.
