Several years ago I had the opportunity to spend an evening with Ray and friends at his cottage, on a lovely wintry day that is so emblematic of Haliburton. Ray prepared and served us a delicious dinner. As an aviation enthusiast it was such a treat to listen to Ray’s tales including one of standing in the back of a pickup truck at the DeHavilland test facilities holding on to a model of the now legendary Caribou search and rescue aircraft as they performed aerodynamic analysis on a model of the plane. His passion and knowledge was wonderful.
Please accept my condolences.
I remember Ray with fondness and admiration.

Sending our deepest condolences to all of Ray’s family. For many years, Ray was a good neighbour and friend to Bob Tirilis and family. Ray and Bob both shared a great love for Drag Lake and the Haliburton area and all it has to offer. They would get together to chat and share a drink and were always there to help each other out. As Bob aged, Ray would always come around to check up on Bob and to this day we are very thankful for that. Ray will be greatly missed by all the Tirilis family.

Our family was so saddened to learn of Ray's passing. We moved to Haliburton in 1999 as well and Ray & Nellie were one of very few year around neighbours on our road. They were always our first stop on Halloween night and one of our children's favourites. A photo was required each year before treats were handed out as they watched them grow.
I have spent many hours over the years in conversation with Ray as we would meet on our morning walks. He was a fascinating man and so brimming with knowledge and wisdom. I will dearly miss seeing him coming down the road. ;(
We know how he missed Nellie and I'm sure they are so happy to be reunited.
He was so proud that the family cottage that he loved so much will stay in the family. He also shared his pride in all his children and grandchildren so often when we met.
Please know our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
