Ted posted a condolence

Stumbled across this. Sorry to hear of his passing. I knew Mr McCullough as my Librarian at Highland Heights. He was always entertaining. Always chipper and kind. I remember how animated he was when he read us books and how riveted I was listening. My name is Ted and he committed to calling me Theodore, from day 1 until the day I left the school in the early 80s. Lovely and kind man.

Stasia, Very sorry to hear this news of Hal. He and Reg were always very good friends. I went through Reg's photos from the last trip they took together out east; thought you might like to see a few of Hal on that trip. Sue

I met Hal almost 50 years ago when my family moved to Uxbridge and we became neighbours. I really got to know him well when our families joined the local bowling league. I was on Hal's team and we name it "Hal's Angels". We kept in touch after Hal and Stasia moved to Port Perry. We attended many dances together and Hal was the only one who would dance the "Gay Gordons" with me. When my friend and I would call on Stasia for lunch or a movie, Hal would always greet us from the top of the stairs with a "Hello Ladies". I will miss that as well as his humour and kindness.
We had lots of fun over the years. Rest in Peace my good friend.

On behalf of the Executive of RTO District 24, I would like to express our sincere condolences.
Hal was the original editor of our Newsletter “Beyond the Blackboard”. The newsletter continued to grow under his leadership. Over time, Hal created an e-newsletter for all the months when the print version was not published. He was a fixture at all our luncheons, wearing a large hanging sign on his chest saying “PRESS” and a happy smile as he took countless photographs of attendees.
In 2012, after the arrival of a first grandchild, he reduced the workload by convincing me to assume the role of Webmaster and E-News editor. Hal was such a wonderful mentor. I appreciated all of the helpful tips and especially the Monday morning funnies!
Hal was the recipient of the June Szeman Award in 2018 for outstanding leadership in furthering the goals of RTO District 24 Scarborough & East York. After a decade of support for our membership, Hal retired from the Executive.

I think of Hal as he is in this lovely photo, happy, jolly, and a good friend. During my last year if teaching, I had the honour of sharing a class of eager grade three students with Hal, and I must say this was one of the most rewarding and fun years in my whole career. I will always think of him with good cheer and warmth. I know you will miss him dearly. My very deepest condolences. Hal was one of the GOOD GUYS.

Uncle Hal, as he was lovingly referred to by our household, was one of my Dad’s best friends. He had such a wonderful fun loving way about him and had such a great sense of humour. Uncle Hal could always bring a smile to your face and he enjoyed sharing his daily emails that always left my Dad in fits of laughter!! As my brother, sister and I have spent the last year and a half going through our father and mother’s things, Uncle Hal and Auntie Stasia keep popping up in many different photos, slides and in different writings including their photos together on the front of a small school publication/magazine!! Auntie Stasia I am so sorry for this huge loss for you and your family. Love and hugs from my family to yours! Here are a few of our finds this year to share! (The picture with the baby is me. And the one with the two young kids is my brother Chris and my sister Charlene with Uncle Hal and Scott) Love, Denise Bell xoxo
