Joyce's work in Blackstock and the larger community leaves a legacy that will shine brightly for many, many years. As a teacher in the local schools for 20 years, 2 at CCPS and 18 at Cartwright High, I very much appreciated her support in every educational endeavor undertaken by me and my colleagues. In particular, the music program would never have enjoyed the success it did without Joyce's active support and promotion.
She will be missed, but in so very many ways she will be remembered as a shining example of true community spirit.

This photo was from the reunion we had with the 1964 grade 8 class of Brooklin School in 2017.
I had the pleasure of having 'Miss Graham' as my teacher for grades 6, 7 and 8 and no better teacher I ever had. I will always remember the 'acre' lesson.
May you take comfort in knowing that Joyce, your mother, shaped so many young people that her legacy lives on.

Miss Graham was my grade 4 teacher at Brooklin Public School. I remember her compassion for her students. Because of Miss Graham I spent a memory packed summer living on her brother Harvey and sister in law Joan’s farm. Many years later I reconnected with Joyce and her husband Gerald at the OAAS Convention held yearly in Toronto. We always took time to have a visit and some laughs. We were also fortunate to be able to spend a weekend at Gerald's family farm.
Dave and I send our condolences to the daughters and their families and to Harvey and Joan Graham.. We hope that memories of Joyce will bring you peace at this difficult time.

I have many fond memories of Joyce working alongside of her on the COTPA/OTTPA executive for many years. Her dedication to the organization was second to none! She would open up her home for meetings to people from many parts of Ontario. The best part of the meetings was the end, when we got to taste her home-baked goodies! Joyce, your knowledge and dedication will be deeply missed, a I hope that we can all take what we have learned from you over the years and make this world a better place! And Joyce, I will continue to wear my suit to the OTTPA banquet for you! She thought that was important! Elaine, Elizabeth, and Esther, our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Kevin, Stephanie, Cale and Leanne Holmes.

I had the distinct honour of serving with Joyce as a Trustee with the Durham District School Board; as an appointee due to the sad loss of Steve Martin, Joyce's experience and no nonsense approach to getting things done was a breath of fresh air. Her favourite saying was "Let's get it done" and railed against us when there was more talk than action. When she retired, we kept in touch, and when she needed help (or donations) with the Blackstock Fair, or the pulling associations, or the Ladybug fundraising, I could never say no to her. We spend much time together driving to meetings in Schomberg and helping with governance issues; and I had the honour of getting to know her even better; of her teaching days, her independence, farming, Gerald, the tragic loss of her daughter, her determination and her ability to contribute, always. Joyce loved her family, and was filled with pride with every accomplishment. For me being able to attend her special birthday party, with her family, was a symbol of our sharing a pathway together. I will miss you Joyce; you taught me well and every time I hear the roar of a tractor pulling, I will think of you, always pulling for your family, your community and your friends.
