Shonagh & Andrew: So sorry I had to miss the visitation. As you know Al and I were partners for many years until we were promoted and moved on. We were also neighbours in Ajax. Too many memories to even begin to tell you, plus many stories I shouldn't tell in public!!! Lol.
He will be missed by many.
I will look forward to joining you at the celebration in the future.
Sympathies to you and all the family.
Rick

Dianne, Sorry for your loss, way too soon. Alan will be missed in the Scottish country dance community. I thought you would like these photos from the 2011 Summer School. Rob Lockhart

Dianne, our apologies for no being able to make it to visitation, but hope we can be a presence at the memorial service when it takes place. Please accept our sincerest sympathies in the loss of your wonderful husband. We only saw Alan a few times, but he was always friendly and talkative. We are sure he will be missed. Please take comfort in the fact that our prayers go with you as you grieve Alan's loss. Take care and we will see you soon. Lynne and Bev Ewen

Al Graham was my first Platoon Sgt when I was posted to 25Div in Pickering. He was memorable for many reasons. A stickler for detail. Every box on every report had to be filled. Spelling and grammar correct. He made us all better and more detailed report writers. It goes without saying that his laugh was one of a kind and was imitated but never perfected by many of us. Imitation is the best form of flattery.
Years later I returned to the same platoon and worked with Al as his Sergeant. Nothing had changed over the years and this became apparent when he zapped my reports and set them back to me for correction.
I have memories of him laughing with us, drinking with us, golfing and celebrating with us. He was always willing to join in and never wanted to miss and event. Although he demanded what was right he was not mean or vindictive.
How could you not like a man that had an accent and a beard and smoked cigars. He came from a good era and we worked together during what I think were the the better times. Things have certainly changed and I'm not so sure we would fit in now but Al should be remembered as one of the good guys. We will miss him.
Great memories on a sad occasion
