When a loved one passes away, you want all the funeral service arrangements to be perfect. If you have opted for a burial, this includes choosing a casket. This might seem like a very simple detail but it’s an important one.

If you are looking for a casket you will find there are many different types to choose from and making the right decision is about having complete information about the different materials and their pros and cons. Some of the aspects you need to keep in view include:

  • Budget - This is probably the first thing you need to take into consideration. Since there are different materials and finishes there can be a wide variation in the prices of caskets. This is why you need to set a budget and then start working around that. Basic metal caskets can cost approximately $1000 while the embellished ones can cost anything between $2500 and $3500.
  • Material - Wood, and metal are the two main materials used in caskets. You can opt for wood species such as maple, mahogany, walnut, oak, poplar, pine or aspen. The different metal options include stainless steel, copper and bronze.
  • Other features - You can choose from various shell designs and interior materials based on your specific preferences and budget. For example, you can pick a casket with either rounded or square corners and internal materials like velvet or crepe.

When you choose the casket with care, it means you are caring for your loved one. You want the person’s final resting place to be beautiful and safe.
