Is A Casket Required For Cremation?

We at Wagg Funeral Home recognize several considerations to be made while organizing a funeral service for a deceased relative. However, many individuals choose cremation over burial.

Before you pass, you can consult our specialists about the various alternatives and make the necessary arrangements. The expert will walk you through the procedure to ensure you acquire the appropriate package and service. In your preplan, you can specify the casket you desire. Your family will not be responsible for this or any other aspect of the cremation.

Types Of Caskets

People commonly enquire as to whether a casket is necessary for a funeral. Yes, but the casket does not have to be like those used at funerals.

If you're on a tight budget and do not want to splurge on an oak or metal casket, you can choose from wood or cardboard for an affordable cremation casket. Third parties typically supply these, and you have various options, including:

  • Metal
  • Mixed materials
  • Wood
  • Manufactured wood
  • Biodegradable

Caskets are in basic and customized versions depending on your preferences and budget. The crematorium's cremation chamber is solely built to burn wooden caskets; metal caskets are not accepted. Customized caskets can be built with various materials, themes, and ornamentation.

Most funeral homes provide several packages, among which you can select the one that matches your requirements the best. After discussing your choices with the funeral director, you can make your final selection.

If you have questions about our funeral services, please contact us and talk with Wagg Funeral Home’s funeral director. We are available any day of the week. You can call us at 905-985-2171 or send us a message through this Online Form, and we will call you back soon.
