Breaking Down The Cost Of A Funeral Service

Funerals may be expensive, particularly if you want specific services. Many people are not sure of what expenses are involved while planning one. At Wagg Funeral Home, we've seen that consumers frequently select services they don't need, which leads to increasing total prices unnecessarily.

The Costs Involved

We are here to offer you all the details you need regarding costs to assist you in planning your budget more effectively. Funeral expenses can include the following:

1. Fee For Basic Services

You must pay the funeral director this sum for their services and overhead and actual charges. Because funeral plans vary by the funeral home, you should explain your preferences to the funeral director. They will present you with an estimate before
finalizing anything. Occasionally, the base package will include the following:

  • Gathering documents
  • Obtaining duplicate death certificates
  • Obtaining the necessary permits
  • Keeping the mortal remains secure
  • Overhead costs
  • Collaborating with cemeteries, crematoriums, and other third-party vendors

These standard costs will vary only if the funeral home is responsible for items such as transporting the remains.

2. Additional Services

Additional services are offered through the funeral home, but they are optional. If you choose a basic funeral, the standard plan is adequate, and there will be no additional services, such as:

  • Embalming
  • Viewing/memorial services
  • A funeral hearse/limousine
  • Containers such as coffins, urns, and caskets
  • Burial clothing

These are optional services offered by funeral homes. While you may contract with other suppliers to handle things, leaving them to a funeral home is usually more cost-efficient. You would need to pay in advance for these third-party services, including
cemetery or graveyard use, priest or celebrant, singers, and flowers.

If you require additional details, please call us and speak with the funeral director at Wagg Funeral Home. We can help you preplan a funeral and with information about the different services available.
