Every culture has its own set of burial rituals. Many of these customs are centuries old, and the inhabitants of that country have practiced them for centuries. Wagg Funeral Home always takes a concerted approach when arranging funeral arrangements for our clients, ensuring that all details are in accordance with their expectations.

Different Burial And Funeral Customs Around The World

Here are other rare practices that people engage in:

1. Sky Funerals In Tibet And Mongolia

Most people in Tibet and Mongolia practice Vajrayana Buddhism, which teaches that an individual's mortal remains have no meaning after the soul departs. As a result, after an individual dies, their body is left on a mountaintop for nature to take its course, which is often an environmentally sustainable way to dispose of mortal remains.

2. Plan Azerbaijan Funerals

In contrast, funerals in Azerbaijan are elaborate and extravagant affairs that cost a lot of money. While the country's main religion teaches differently, this is a common practice, and people compete to outdo one another when it comes to planning funerals.

3. Funeral Flowers In Russia

When visiting mourning family members at a funeral in Russia, people bring even number of roses. According to their culture, one flower is for the kin and the other is for God. They send bouquets of an odd number of flowers for other occasions.

4. Ghana's One-Of-A-Kind Coffins

Ghanaians believe that life & death are interlinked, which is why they also celebrate death. They build elaborate coffins that represent the decedent's desires, and it's normal to see coffins shaped like cars, musical instruments, boats, and other objects.
