How To Plan A Meaningful Memorial Service

Memorial services are a great way to honor a deceased loved one and help family members gain some solace. People can celebrate the life and contributions of the deceased by sharing beautiful memories. At Wagg Funeral Home, we consider the memorial service an important part of the recovery process. This post discusses some of the best ways to plan a meaningful service.

1. Keep The Deceased’s Personality Alive

Memorial services are meaningful when they reflect the personality of the deceased. Think about your loved one’s likes, hobbies, and preferences while planning a funeral service. Were they playful and fun-loving? Were they an artist with a passion for history? Did they love cars and fast motorcycles? Did they have a favorite sport or team? You can take aspects of all their passions and add it to the memorial service.

2. Choose The Right Music

Music sets the right tone for memorial services, helping create a comforting and compassionate environment. Don't choose bland or generic music that just fades into the background. Pick songs from your loved one's music library or their favorite artists. Make sure the lyrics and rhythm are appropriate for the service by consulting various family members. The last thing you want is to upset people with your choice of music.

3. Picture And Video

Pictures and videos of the deceased individual can help evoke their memory in people’s minds. Create a slideshow of your favorite images and include milestones like graduation, marriage, awards, children, and candid shots. You can also showcase some home videos, especially if they highlight the deceased person’s character. For example, a video of a loving father helping a child take their first steps or a memory of a young girl giving her valedictorian speech is perfect for memorial services.

If you want to know about our funeral or memorial services, don’t hesitate to contact us at Wagg Funeral Home today and we’ll be happy to help.
