Remembering And Honoring A Loved One Through Holiday Meals

Holidays provide the perfect opportunity for family members and loved ones to get together. It's not uncommon for people to travel a great distance to be with their family during Christmas or other holidays. These occasions can be painful if you've lost a loved one. At Wagg Funeral Home, we encourage people to find ways to honour their deceased loved ones during holiday celebrations and holiday meals:

1. Prepare their Favorite Meal

A great way to honour a loved one is to make their favourite dish for the holiday meal. For example, if your deceased family member liked roast chicken with a special sauce, make that dish for Christmas and tell all your guests about it. Everyone can share good memories and remember the person as you enjoy the holiday meal.

2. Toast to the Loved One

You can toast to your dearly departed before the meal and make a small speech about them. You can also ask your dinner guests to speak a few words and share their experiences. It's a great way to heal together and create a positive memory. Toasting to your loved one can help reduce the ache left behind by their absence.

3. Donate Holiday Meals to The Less Fortunate in their Name

There’s nothing better than helping others out during the holiday season, especially when you do it as a way to honour a loved one’s memory. You can distribute holiday meals or invite a less fortunate family to dinner during this time. This helps spread joy and can make a significant impact on someone's life.

If you want to know about our funeral or memorial services, don’t hesitate to contact us at Wagg Funeral Home today.
